Three Juveniles Arrested in Springfield Burglary
Three juveniles were arrested Monday, February 18, and each charged with three counts of first-degree burglary.
At 7:28 p.m., Springfield Police (SPD) responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 2000 block of L St. The suspects were not there when officers arrived. Approximately $250 worth of change had been taken from the residence, among other items. Police notified businesses in the area of the incident and asked them to watch for subjects bringing large amounts of change.
A little less than an hour later, an employee of Wal-Mart in the 2600 block of Olympic St. reported three juveniles turned in a substantial amount of change in the Coinstar machine. A SPD sergeant made contact with the three juvenile male subjects, ages 17,15 and 13, and determined they were responsible for the burglary. The suspects also had property on them connecting them to two other burglaries.
Additional property was recovered after the suspects were interviewed by SPD Detective Crolly. Det. Crolly is continuing to investigate these suspects, as it is possible they may be involved in other unsolved burglaries.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact SPD at 541-726-3714.
