Cottage Grove, OR – 2013 will mark a new chapter in the history of the Cottage Grove Speedway. When the doors open this April, not only will the facility have new ownership, but a new general manager too. That position will be filled by Heather Boyce of Cottage Grove who will see to the day-to-day operations of the historic venue for owner Jerry Schram.
“I’m very excited for the upcoming season here at Cottage Grove,” commented Boyce. “I’ve been coming here for most of my life and this is a real honor that Jerry has put in me in charge of this great facility. The last few weeks, everyone has been working hard so that we can open the doors at the first part of April.”
Boyce is an extremely dedicated individual who has had a massive involvement with the Kage Kart community the past ten years as a race director for several tracks in the Pacific Northwest. Since 2009 she has been the head lap checker at Cottage Grove, with the exception of a hiatus for the majority of the 2012 season, before moving up into the same duty for the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region last year.
The 2013 calendar is jam-packed with just over 30 events spanning the months of April through October. The marquee organizations of both the ASCS-National Tour and the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will be back at “The Grove” this year. Returning as special events in the upcoming campaign that were not on the calendar last year include the Cottage Grove Speedway Modified Nationals, Grove Classic, and Non-Wing Nationals.
The Cottage Grove Speedway will host a Test and Tune practice on Saturday April 13th, while the racing season will open up on the 20th. The venue has over 30 events on the schedule featuring 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets as regular classes.
